Prayer for Peace
Send Thy peace, O Lord, which is perfect and everlasting,
That our souls may radiate peace.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may think, act and speak,
Hamoniously.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may be contented and
Thankful for Thy bountiful gifts.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that amidst our worldly strife we
may enjoy Thy bliss.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may endure all, tolerate all
In the thought of Thy grace and mercy.
Send Thy peace, O lord, that our lives may become a divine
vision, and in Thy light all darkness may vanish.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, our Father and Mother, that we
Thy children on earth may all unite in one family.
Pir o Murshid Inayat Khan
Pir Vilayat spoke these words at the United Nations Millennium Peace Summit:
"I remember my dear and venerated friend the Dalai Lama, said 'If we want to have peace in the world we must learn to be kind,'
Disagreement escalates into unkindness, cruelty, violence, torture, and terror, and escalates to such an extent that it can only be reversed by taking away the sting of unkindness from the hearts of people.
Once the emotional charge is defused, people can agree to disagree, which is the first step for conflict resolution. In the words of the philosopher Voltaire, "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right say it."
I am with you wherever there is suffering."
